Platform fees don’t just include the displayed commission. Multiple layers of fees stack up, and the final amount withdrawn is often higher than restaurateurs imagine.
The base commission: 25 to 30% of the order’s gross amount (HT). This is the main fee, the one that is negotiated in your contract. It covers placement on the platform and delivery logistics.
Payment fees: 2 to 3% of the amount for processing the transaction by credit card. This fee is often included in the commission but sometimes billed separately.
Tablet fees: some platforms charge for tablet rental (€5-15/month). Others provide them for free. Check your contract.
Optional marketing fees: if you use the platform’s advertising tools (sponsored ads, promotions), they are added to your commission. Recommended budget: 3-5% of delivery revenue.
The real calculation: on a €25 order, the platform typically charges a commission of €7.50 + €0.75 in payment fees = €8.25. You have €16.75 left to cover ingredients, packaging, labor, and profit.
Request a detailed monthly statement from your platform. Verify that the amounts withdrawn match your contract. Billing errors exist and are rarely in your favor.
