Delivery delays: how to avoid penalties from platforms

Platforms severely penalize delivery delays. A restaurant that is regularly late may see its visibility decrease by 30 to 50%.

Understanding the calculation: platforms compare your actual preparation time to your estimate. If you announce 15 minutes and take 25 minutes, it’s a 10-minute delay recorded.

Overestimate your preparation time by 5 minutes. It’s better to deliver early (satisfaction bonus) than late (penalty).

Adjust in real time. During rushes, increase your estimates from the tablet. The platforms allow it and it’s much better than a delay.

Solution 3: The prep-ahead. Prepare the elements that can be prepared in advance: sauces, toppings, cuts. Every minute gained in preparation counts.

Solution 4 : Communication with the delivery drivers. If an order takes longer, notify the driver to organize their route.

Goal: maintain a punctuality rate above 90%. This is the threshold at which platforms consider your restaurant reliable.
