Your delivery zone is a strategic parameter often overlooked. On Uber Eats, the default radius is 5 km. On Deliveroo, it depends on your commercial agreement.
The larger the delivery area, the longer the delivery time. Beyond a 20-minute drive, the quality of the dishes degrades significantly (soggy fries, lukewarm dishes, sauces that leak).
Analyze your data: where are your orders coming from? If 80% come within a 3 km radius, reducing your zone to 4 km eliminates problematic distant orders without significantly impacting your revenue.
Dense areas (downtown, residential neighborhoods) generate more orders than sprawling areas (industrial zones, suburbs). Prioritize density over surface area.
Adapt your area according to the hours. In the middle of the day, downtown offices dominate. In the evening, residential neighborhoods take over. Some platforms allow you to adjust the area by time slot.
Test zone delimiters during quiet periods. If a new neighborhood generates enough orders with positive reviews, integrate it permanently.
