Stock shortages on platforms are doubly punishing. Not only do you lose the sale, but the cancellation of the order degrades your reliability score and negatively impacts your algorithmic ranking.
Establish a system of safety stock levels (replenishment levels). For each key ingredient, define a minimum stock level below which you must recommend replenishing. Base these levels on your sales history of the last 4 weeks.
Proactively deactivate dishes at risk of running out instead of waiting for cancellation. On Uber Eats and Deliveroo, you can temporarily make an item unavailable in just a few clicks. It’s much less penalizing than a cancellation.
Create a pre-service checklist. Before each opening on the platforms, check the stock of the 10 most used ingredients. This 5-minute check can avoid several costly cancellations during service.
Analyze your sales by day of the week to anticipate needs. Friday and Saturday evenings often generate 40-60% additional volume. Order accordingly and adjust your pricing levels based on the day.
