Knowing your competitors is as important as knowing your customers. On delivery platforms, competition is visible and analyzable: prices, menus, photos, ratings, reviews. Use this information to differentiate yourself.
Identify your direct competitors: same type of cuisine, same delivery area, same price range. List the 5 to 10 restaurants that capture the same customers as you. Order from them to evaluate the real quality of the experience.
Analyze their menus in detail. What dishes do they offer? At what prices? What customization options are available? Where are the gaps in their offering? A dish that no one offers in your area is an opportunity to differentiate yourself.
Study their customer reviews. Their recurring complaints from customers are your potential points of differentiation. If all competitors are critical about delivery times, position yourself on speed. If the portions are judged too small, make yours more generous.
Don’t copy, differentiate. The goal isn’t to do like everyone else but to do better or differently. Find your unique value proposition: the fastest restaurant, the most generous, the healthiest, the most authentic. And communicate this difference clearly.
