The Extra Contract (Usual Termination Contract): Rules and Limits

Hygiene & Regulation 6 min de lecture 10 novembre 2025

The usage CDD (Extra) is reserved for jobs “naturally temporary” (caterer, event management, exceptional overtime).

It can’t last for months. If someone gets a bonus every Saturday for 6 months, it’s a disguised part-time CDI (permanent employment contract). Risk of reclassification at the labor courts (Prud’hommes).

Formalism: A written contract must be signed for EACH assignment (or a master contract).

Compensation: At least the standard minimum wage + 10% paid leave. No precariousness bonus generally (depending on agreements).

Beware of shortages. Chainings of temporary contracts for specific tasks on the same position is risky.
