What POS system for your franchise? The guide by restaurant type

Marques 8 min de lecture 15 octobre 2025

Choosing a point-of-sale (POS) system is one of the most important decisions for a franchisee. Some franchisors impose their own system, while others allow for choice. And the technical constraints vary enormously depending on the type of restaurant.

Large international chains (McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King) generally impose their own proprietary POS system or an agreed-upon system (Oracle MICROS, NCR Aloha). As a franchisee, you have no choice. These systems are robust but expensive (150-400€/month) and inflexible.

French franchises of medium size (O’Tacos, Chamas Tacos) often offer more freedom. Zelty and InnovOrder are the most used in these segments. They are well integrated with delivery platforms and offer specific features for fast food restaurants.

For independent restaurants launching through franchising. If you have a choice, our recommendation for 2026: Zelty for high-volume restaurants with tablet ordering, InnovOrder for franchises doing a lot of delivery, SumUp POS for small budgets and light concepts (food court, dark kitchen).

Integration with platforms is crucial. Your POS must be integrated with Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and Just Eat to avoid manual order re-entry. Zelty, InnovOrder, and Lightspeed all have these integrations natively.

Beyond POS: the POS manages your in-store orders. The aggregator manages your platform orders. The two are complementary. Fooderise integrates with all major POS systems to centralize the complete view of your business (cash register + platforms) in a single dashboard.

Budget POS for a franchise. Estimate 100-400€/month for a cloud POS based on features. Add the equipment (tablet, printer, payment terminal): 1,000 to 3,000€ initial investment. And for the aggregator Fooderise: from 49€/month for a restaurant, all-inclusive.
