Technology is not an end in itself, it is a means to solve problems. Here are the tools in order of priority according to your level of maturity in delivery.
Level 1 (0-30 orders/day): tablets from the platforms are sufficient. Add a thermal printer for tickets (€150-250) and a dedicated smartphone for order photos.
Level 2 (30-80 orders per day): the KDS becomes profitable (€300-€600 + subscription). The order aggregator (Deliverect, Orderbird - €80-€200/month) centralizes platforms on a screen.
Level 3 (80-150 orders/day): the connected POS with integrated delivery module (SumUp, Lightspeed – 50-100 EUR/month) unifies your sales. The inventory system automates stockouts.
Level 4 (150+ commands/day): advanced analytics (Power BI, Metabase – free/open source) cross-references data from all your sources. Automation of repetitive tasks (IFTTT, Zapier) frees up time.
The trap to avoid: adopting too many tools too quickly. Each tool adds complexity. Don’t add a tool unless the problem it solves costs more than the tool itself.
Training is the hidden cost of technology. A tool misused is worse than no tool. Allocate 2-3 hours of training per tool and designate a champion within the team.
