The Latest Quick: A Heritage in Suspense
In 2024, there are approximately 15-20 Quick restaurants remaining in France, remnants of a network that once numbered 400 a decade ago. Where are they, and why haven’t these restaurants been converted to Burger King?
The Residual Map
According to administrative declarations indexed in our database (which doesn’t always accurately reflect the ground reality), the remaining Quick establishments are concentrated on:
| Department | Quick Tagged Companies |
|---|---|
| Nord (59) | 8 |
| Haute-Garonne (31) | 4 |
| Paris (75) | 4 |
| Seine-Saint-Denis (93) | 3 |
| Gironde (33) | 3 |
Attention: these data reflect companies whose legal name still contains “Quick”, not necessarily Quick restaurants still operating under that brand. As explained in our Quick France Financial Analysis, many former Quick franchisees now operate Burger King without changing their SIREN.
Three Reasons for Maintaining
For the rare restaurants still operated under the Quick banner in 2024, three main scenarios:
1. Incompatible Lease Agreements — Some leases contain clauses prohibiting the conversion of the brand without the landlord’s consent. When the landlord refuses (or demands compensation deemed too high), Bertrand has left the restaurant as Quick until the lease expires.
2. Saturated Burger King Density — In some areas, converting a Quick to BK would create two Burger King restaurants too close to each other (cannibalization). Bertrand preferred to maintain the Quick as an alternative to his own BK.
3. Isolated Pilot Tests — There were, for a time, pilot tests of “Quick + Burger King” on certain motorway areas, or attempts to relaunch the Quick brand on specific concepts (Quick Mag, Quick Halal). These tests were not perpetuated.
The Future of the Brand
To date, no strategic signal indicates a relaunch of the Quick brand by the Bertrand group. The remaining restaurants will likely be:
- Converted over the course of lease renewals (2025-2030)
- Closed when profitability is no longer assured
- Sold to other local operators or the master franchisee
The Quick brand remains legally registered and active. A relaunch – in a completely redesigned form (different concept, distinctive identity, niche product) – is not impossible but not announced.
For Nostalgics
If you’re looking for an “authentic” Quick for sentimental reasons, your best bet is Brussels or Belgium: the brand remains somewhat more active there, operated by other groups than Bertrand. The Belgian Quick restaurants retain the original graphic identity and the classic menu.
