The design of your digital menu on platforms follows different rules than a paper menu. The screen is small, scrolling is vertical, and the customer’s attention is limited to 30 seconds.
The 3-second rule: the customer must understand your offer in 3 seconds. Your restaurant name, your specialty, and your best dish must be visible immediately.
Photos are the first element looked at. A menu with photos on each dish generates 30 to 40% more orders than a menu without photos. Investing in photography is non-negotiable.
Visual hierarchy: dishes at the top of each category are the most viewed. Place your best dishes (best-sellers AND most profitable) there. Don’t leave this position to chance.
Prices must be clear and without surprises. Hidden supplements or “starting from” prices frustrate customers. Display the final price for the standard version of the dish.
Short descriptions (2 lines max) with sensory keywords (“crispy”, “smooth”, “homemade”) are more effective than long lists of ingredients.
